AISD Selects New AHS Assistant Principal

Atlanta ISD is pleased to announce that Jason Dempsey has been selected as the new Assistant Principal of Atlanta High School.
Dempsey brings 24 years of experience in education, including 18 years in administration, and a strong background in instructional leadership, student support, and campus management. He currently serves as Assistant Principal at Linden Elementary School and has held leadership roles in Liberty-Eylau ISD. He also served as principal of Red Lick Middle School for eight years.
Dempsey began his career as a communication graphics teacher at Texas High School, where he taught for six years. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while creating school environments where students can thrive academically and personally.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in English and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University–Texarkana.
Dempsey said he is excited to join the Atlanta High School community and contribute to the school’s tradition of excellence.
“I am excited to join the Rabbit family and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students and families,” Dempsey said. “Atlanta High School has a rich tradition of excellence, pride, and school spirit. I am especially excited to be back on a high school campus, working alongside students and staff as they prepare for their futures.”
Building meaningful relationships and creating a supportive environment are among Dempsey’s top priorities as he begins his new role.
“I want students to feel safe, valued, and confident in their ability to succeed,” Dempsey said. “I hope to help students develop the confidence to advocate for their own learning while maintaining high expectations for themselves. I also want families to experience a true partnership centered on what is best for their children and their success.”
Superintendent Jason Harris said Dempsey’s extensive leadership experience and ability to connect with people make him an outstanding addition to the Atlanta High School leadership team.
“Mr. Dempsey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Atlanta High School,” Harris said. “He has served successfully in a variety of leadership roles and understands how to support students, staff, and families. His ability to build strong relationships, combined with his experience as both a principal and assistant principal, will be a tremendous asset to our high school community.”
