AISD announced key leadership changes

Atlanta Independent School District is pleased to announce two significant leadership appointments that will continue to drive the district's commitment to excellence in education.

Colby Boyce, currently serving as the principal of Atlanta Middle School, will transition to the role of Assistant Superintendent of Alternative Education. In this new position, Boyce will concentrate on developing and implementing innovative programs and strategies to enhance alternative education across the district. His responsibilities will include overseeing the Discipline Alternative Education Program and the Behavioral Alternative Center, spearheading the development of a credit recovery program, and implementing the Stronger Connections Grant.

Boyce brings 17 years of experience in education to his new role. He holds a bachelor's degree in physical education with a minor in history, a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree in education administration.

"I am looking forward to working on this new project and the opportunities it presents for AISD,” Boyce said. "These programs will have a significant impact on shaping the future of alternative education in our district.”

Stepping into the role of principal at Atlanta Middle School is Jennifer Cross. Cross joins AISD with over 24 years of experience in education, including 16 years in administrative roles. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, and another master's degree in education administration, along with principal certification.

"I am thrilled to join Atlanta Middle School and work with such a dedicated team of educators and staff,” Cross said. “Together, we will continue to build a nurturing and academically challenging environment for our students."

Superintendent Jason Harris expressed confidence in the new appointments, which take effect July 1.

"We are excited about the leadership and expertise that both Mr. Boyce and Ms. Cross bring to their new roles,” Harris said. “Their combined experience and vision will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of our district.”
