Tech for Parents and Students
Atlanta ISD's 1:1 technology program is designed to foster teamwork and cooperation like never before. Students can collaborate with their peers, brainstorm innovative ideas, and solve problems together, all while honing essential communication and leadership skills. Through our program, students have access to state-of-the-art devices and software that will amplify their creativity, sharpen their critical thinking, and prepare them for the ever-evolving digital landscape.
This site will contain support materials for parents and students to help get to know and understand the technology tools the district uses for teaching and learning.
Data Privacy
We take your child's data privacy seriously. As a district, we only use tools that are approved and compliant with Federal data privacy laws. Please do not encourage your child to sign up for accounts with their school email on websites that are not directly recommended by their teacher.
Classroom Technology
Kindergarten-1st Grade: classroom set of iPads that remain on campus
2nd-5th Grades: classroom set of Chromebooks that remain on campus
6th-12th Grades: individual Chromebooks that students are allowed to take home
Chromebooks
Chromebooks are a type of computer that runs on a specific system called ChromeOS. A typical Chromebook is meant to access the web and all that the internet has to offer.

Chromebooks:
Cannot install and run programs such as Microsoft Word or Minecraft.
Use a G Suite account to sign in with your AISD account/email address and password.
Signs you into all your Google sites automatically such as Gmail, Classroom, and Calendar.
Signs you into Chrome to easily access bookmarks, extensions, web history, and other settings.
Atlanta ISD Chromebooks:
All are touch screen (except for loaners)
Can also run district-approved Android apps and extensions
Are monitored by the district
Can be used with a stylus

Optional Chromebook Insurance
Parents/Guardians have the option to purchase a Technology Device Protection Plan that covers some common damages to Chromebooks.

Plan costs $26.00 for the school year

ClassLink
What is ClassLink?
With ClassLink, one password gives students and teachers access to everything they need, on any device.
Apps are accessible in one place.
Students must use ClassLink to access apps/websites with logins.
Google Workspace
G Suite for Education is now Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals — a suite of easy-to-use tools that provide a flexible and secure foundation for learning, collaboration, and communication.
Google Classroom
This is probably the most essential part of learning online at Atlanta ISD. Here you will find how to videos for parents and students such as viewing and submitting assignments.
Google Docs, Sheets, & Slides
Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets are Google Drive's equivalent to MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They are the suite of productivity tools teachers and students will use to create and work on assignments like essays, lab reports, journals, and more.
Kami
Kami is an online document annotation and markup tool. You can highlight, underline, and strikethrough text in PDF and other document formats. You can also add text boxes, shapes, and images. Kami works with Google Drive and Google Classroom. Teachers may be giving assignments in Kami like annotating text, labeling, doing math problems, and more.

StudentPortal is a web-based system for students in grades 6-12. It provides the tools that will help you view your attendance, grades, and assignments, as well as organize and plan your schedule of classes.
ParentPortal provides web access to school-related information about your students, including attendance, grades, discipline, assessments, and immunizations.
AISD uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number.
StudentSquare is an easy to use and secure communication tool for students and staff.
